Leyden was a working journalist for many years and has published in daily newspapers, weekly news magazines, and monthly magazines. He also is the coauthor of two books. Here is a sampling of some standout work:
The Long Boom, A Future History of the World: 1980-2020, which was translated into half a dozen languages: The Long Boom.
What's Next?, Exploring the New Terrain for Business, which looked at what to expect in many fields in the decade following the September 11th attack: What's Next.
He also coauthored a cover story in Wired Magazine that caused much controversy and debate in the mid-1990s, and led to his first book. The Long Boom magazine article.
In late 2007 Leyden coauthored a magazine piece in Mother Jones magazine with his colleague Simon Rosenberg, who he worked with at the New Politics Institute, called The 50-Year Strategy. It laid out much of what happened in actuality through 2008 and until today.
