This Next Agenda website is a base for Peter Leyden, who in the summer left his position as Director of the New Politics Institute to focus on the next set of challenges for the country after the election in the fall. I shifted from the primary task of getting Obama and Democrats into power to looking at what we do with that power come January and beyond. How do we move big ideas and more transformative policies into governing?
Next Agenda is a place where I can lay out an analysis of the extraordinary historic moment we’re in – what I call The Obama Moment. I think we’re entering a rare period of explosive political innovation on a par with a handful of other times in American history. I explain that concept more fully in a written passage here. And you can watch video of recent talks that explain it all in a highly entertaining way using a multimedia slideshow. One of the best versions was captured in exceptional video in Copenhagen in October and can be seen off the front page. You can get more information on these ideas, on my speaking and other written work throughout the website.
Next Agenda also is the name of a startup business that’s a cross between a policy think tank leveraging new technologies and a new media company producing serious shows. It gets extraordinary people outside of Washington DC involved in solving national challenges by using both new techniques for facilitating physical gatherings and new technologies for collaboration online. The process is captured on video and produced as a show to expose Americans to transformative solutions to the 21st Century challenges facing our country and the world.
The Next Agenda business is creating a new website that will fully explain its mission and begin the process generally outlined above and referred to elsewhere on the website. We now have a core team formed and some angel investment and will be making more announcements soon.
Thanks for your interest and stay connected. We are living in extraordinary times.
